Can you pls. cite some websites that cover free web hosting service??

A common question:

….

Answer: You are not alone. Free hosting will most probably never be the best hosting for most people. Web hosting is the heart of your web presence and can mean the life or death to your business.

Before we answer your question, let us review the 7 factors to look for in a good web hosting. An excellent hosting:

  1. has at least 30 days money back guarantee,
  2. gives unlimited webspace,
  3. offers unlimited bandwidth,
  4. gives unlimited add-on domains,
  5. has friendly Site Builder,
  6. has Fantastico and QuickInstall to quickly install apps like WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, OSCommerce, ZenCart and more
  7. can be easily upgraded to VPS or one of their cheap dedicated server plans if and when your business require.

Answering your question, why not try Hostgator. If you need an “unlimited” hosting plan, experts usually highly recommend going with Hostgator because they are the best cheap cpanel hosting around.

What if you find out that Hostgator sucks after you signed up with them? HG has 45 days, longer-than-industry-average money back guarantee so you have ample time to test them out. They are rated A+ by Better Business Bureau which shows their commitment to customer satisfaction. You also do not have to pay for the first month. You can just try their fully functional hosting service – you pay only $0.01 (you need to use the special coupon code). Do you know any other hosting company that can give you that kind of assurance? Anybody can grab an account from Hostgator for almost FREE.

Who Should Not Try Hostgator

To be honest, no web hosting service is perfect. Drawback of Hostgator includes:

  1. No free domain name – but you can easily get a domain name from the best domain registrar such as Godaddy or Namecheap for $10 or less. Would you agree that a website is not complete without a domain name?
  2. You need to pay full price after your first invoice – well, they need to make money too and all the support and great service do come with a cost

If you are still not sure if HG is right for you, or you have specific query about anything at all, try the Live Chat at HG. They are fast and knowledgeable. Why not ask some questions before you decide.

Heart Internet [ http://www.heartinternet.co.uk/free-web-hosting.html ] offer free hosting if you take a registered domain over there.

Freehostia [ http://freehostia.com ] have the Chocolate plan with 250MB of disk space and 6GB of bandwidth, with 1 MySQL database and PHP5.

110MB [ http://www.110mb.com/ ] offer 110MB of disk space (that’s a surprise) and 10GB of bandwidth, but you’ll have to pay a one-off fee if you want MySQL.

Webs [ http://webs.com ] offer ridiculously simple hosting and don’t provide "real" web space to you, as do Google Sites [ http://sites.google.com ]. (You can create web pages using their editors, but you can’t upload a CMS like Drupal or Joomla! to these hosts)

However, overall, free hosting sucks. I say this after having used it for several years. Compared to paid hosting, it’s rubbish, your site will be down half the time, some free hosts will stick ads all over it, and you generally won’t get a good experience.

A host like NearlyFreeSpeech.NET [ http://nearlyfreespeech.net ] is far better, and you can start hosting your site there for only $0.25 (currently about 15p). There’s no monthly fee and you only pay for what bandwidth and storage space your site actually uses.

Depends what type of hosting you want. If you just want space to upload a website you’ve already built then here are a few good places: (be prepared for advertising to be placed on your site)

    A list of sites: http://www.absolutely-free-hosting.com/
    Free hosting: http://www.heartinternet.co.uk/free-web-hosting.html

I could go on cause all i’ve done here is add sites from a google search for ‘Free hosting’ Do this yourself because there are tons of sites out there.

If you want free hosting and your planning on buying your own Domain name you could try SerpHOST because they give you free hosting and free email + other stuff when you buy a domain (domain name is under $8 a year) Here’s the link: http://serphost.com

You could also try Google sites if you want a website builder with your free hosting. They make it really easy to build a website if you don’t know HTML/CSS. Here’s the link:
    https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLogin?continue=http%3A%2F%2Fsites.google.com%2F&service=jotspot&passive=true&ul=1

Alternatly you could use one of the blogging platforms like WordPress. Many people use blog’s as a web site or content management system (CMS) WordPress is free and they offer two different services. One service is to host your blog on your own hosting or the other service, which would be best suited for you would be to have it hosted on their servers. WordPress does not add advertising on your site and is is really easy to build a nice looking website (no coding experience needed)

Here’s the link to have them host your blog:
    http://wordpress.com/

and here’s the link to have wordpress on your own hosting: http://wordpress.org/

Free hosting services may well come from your current Internet provider.

If your current internet provider is Earthlink, AOL, SBC Global and others which provide a homepage; you can easily FTP your own webpage designs as a new homepage. And using a redirection service such as mydomain.com or the forwarding of a parked domain name at godaddy.com, you can easily "mask" the homepage URL with a proper domain name. So in a sense, you have a working ecommerce website disguised as a homepage while still paying your normal monthly Internet provider’s access and hosting fee of the homepage.

    Good luck!

    In my preference
    http://www.000webhost.com/188954.html
is the best. i use it and a lot of proffesional companies use it. you can start out with the free account and upgrade later if you want to. they also have a web design app that lets you edit and make the website personal.
